Job DescriptionThe Quality Coordinator will lead and coordinate all aspects of project Quality Control within a shipbuilding and heavy industrial environment. This includes oversight of Goods Inwards Inspection, Dimensional Control, Weld Inspection, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), and Traceability. The role ensures compliance with ISO 9001:2015, AQAP 2110, and applicable Defence Standards (DEFSTANs), supporting the delivery of high-integrity marine and defence assets in line with client requirements.
As a Quality Coordinator , you\βll be at the forefront of maintaining excellence across all aspects of Quality Control in a complex shipbuilding and heavy industrial environment. Working closely with multi-disciplinary teams, you\βll ensure every process meets the highest standards β from inspection and traceability through to regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and Support a Skilled Quality TeamCoordinate daily activities across Goods Inwards, Dimensional Control, Weld Inspection, and NDT teams
Oversee Quality Control ProcessesMonitor and verify inspection results to ensure alignment with shipbuilding specifications and classification society requirements
Ensure Standards and Regulatory ComplianceUphold compliance with ISO 9001:2015, AQAP 2110, AQAP 2105, and applicable Defence Standards
Drive Continuous ImprovementIdentify opportunities to enhance quality performance, reduce rework, and improve inspection efficiency
Maintain Transparent Reporting and RecordsKeep accurate, up-to-date documentation and inspection records; Deliver clear quality performance reports to clients, senior management, and regulatory authorities
QualificationsWe\βre seeking a quality-focused professional with a strong background in shipbuilding, marine engineering, or heavy industry. You\βll need:
Proven experience in Quality Control or Assurance
Strong knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, AQAP 2110/2105, and defence standards
Familiarity with welding standards, NDT methods (UT, MPI, DPI), and dimensional inspection
Comfortable with digital tools , including QMS platforms and traceability systems
A technical qualification (HNC/HND/Degree preferred)
Excellent communication and team coordination skills
Certified Quality Auditor or similar qualifications (desirable)
