Job Summary: The Slinging Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all lifting and slinging operations on site, ensuring that loads are safely and securely prepared, guided, and moved in accordance with relevant safety regulations and project requirements. The role involves supervising slingers/signallers, coordinating with crane operators, and maintaining high safety and efficiency standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate all slinging and lifting activities on site
  • Ensure all lifting operations comply with LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) and site‑specific safety procedures
  • Plan and review lifting operations, including risk assessments and method statements (RAMS)
  • Inspect lifting equipment (slings, chains, shackles, hooks) before use to ensure safety and compliance
  • Communicate clearly with crane operators using standard signalling methods
  • Ensure correct slinging techniques are used for different load types
  • Monitor work areas to maintain safe lifting zones and prevent hazards
  • Lead and mentor slingers/signallers, ensuring competence and adherence to procedures

Qualifications:

  • Supervisory qualification or experience (preferred)
  • Proven experience in lifting operations within construction or heavy industry
  • Knowledge of LOLER and other relevant UK health & safety regulations
