Job Summary: As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be working in a working shipyard and will be responsible for the mechanical upgrade, repair and refit in relation to projects on site.
- Installation and removal of mechanical equipment
- Operation of machinery and inspections/monitoring during operation
- Alignment of machinery and drive chain to set tolerances using optical equipment
- Machining and milling of small ad hoc parts required for equipment removal/installation
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Dismantle and re-assemble mechanical assemblies
- Inspect equipment and identify faulty components
- Carry out preventative maintenance work on plant and equipment
- Align equipment to set tolerances
- Test pipework and systems, commission systems
- Assist other disciplines when required
- Experience with overhead cranes and lifting equipment
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Time served mechanical fitter either in a shipyard or similar field activity where refit work was undertaken
- Understanding of dimensional control techniques such as Electronic Distance Measuring (EDM)
- Understanding of engineered drawings and technical documents
- Knowledge and compliance of workplace safety
- Work execution independently according to valid instructions, rules and other standards
- Flexible cooperation with other team members
