Weight Handling Equipment Superintendent

You will serve as a Weight Handling Equipment Superintendent in the Weight Handling Program Division of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties:

• You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the weight handling and waterfront support equipment operations, maintenance, and repair.
• You will assign work to subordinates based on priorities.
• You will utilize software applications such as word processing tools, spreadsheets, metrics related programs, and data entry tools.
• You will communicate effectively with senior levels of management and military officials to resolve difficulties, acquire information, plan coordinate, and advise on issues.
• You will analyze financial and management reports dealing with site operations and evaluate the overall utilization of manpower and resources.
• You will oversee the planning and direction of product and services relating to lifting and handling operations.
• You will monitor the performance of organizational units in accomplishing assigned responsibilities.

Requirements:

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level.
• Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
• You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination and annually thereafter.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals).
• You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.
• You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications:

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

• Leading a mixed workforce of both General Schedule and Wage Grade personnel;
• Managing operational readiness and deployment of weight handling equipment;
• Applying extensive knowledge of crane, weight handling and rigging operations procedures, regulations, and processes;
• Communicating effectively with senior levels of management and military officials to resolve difficulties, acquire information, plan, and advise on issues;
• Developing strategies and business practices for program operation and maintenance of equipment.

• This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
• This position will be transferring to Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC).
