Bristol Channel Pilots Ltd are inviting expressions of interest from suitably qualified mariners seeking authorisation as a Bristol Pilot. Pilots operate as independent contractors, providing professional pilotage services primarily to The Bristol Port Company across a diverse range of vessel types, navigating one of the most demanding tidal environments in the United Kingdom.
Applications are particularly welcomed from candidates with previous pilotage experience or command experience with Pilotage Exemption Certificates (PECs), though this is not a prerequisite. We encourage all suitably qualified individuals to apply.
Minimum Requirements
- STCW Master Mariner Unlimited (II/2)
- ENG1 Medical Certificate
- Full UK driving licence
- Fluent English, written and spoken
- Right to work in the United Kingdom
- Willingness to reside within 20 miles of the Port of Avonmouth, reflecting the need to respond to vessel orders within tidal pilotage windows
