Day-to-day, you'll be engineering and maintaining innovative, customer centric, high performance, secure and robust solutions. What you'll do:
- In your new role, you’ll be working within a feature team to engineer software, scripts and tools, as well as liaising with other engineers, architects and business analysts across the platform.
- Producing complex and critical software rapidly and of high quality which adds value to the business.
- Working in permanent teams who are responsible for the full life cycle, from initial development, through enhancement and maintenance to replacement or decommissioning.
- Collaborating to optimise our software engineering capability.
- Designing, producing, testing and implementing our working software solutions.
- Working across the life cycle, from requirements analysis and design, through coding to testing, deployment and operations.
The skills you'll need:
- We’re looking for someone to join our high performance engineering team building our new real time banking platform.
- You’ll bring experience of working with Continuous Deployment practices in production environments.
- You’ll have experience building and operating backend services in cloud native environments, using technologies such as Spring Boot, with an understanding of automation as a core engineering principle.
- You’ll be comfortable contributing to the development of reliable and resilient systems, working as part of a team to deliver high quality API based services.
- Exposure to agentic coding practices where it adds value would be hugely beneficial.
- Experience building backend services and APIs, with an understanding of RESTful design principles such as versioning, monitoring, and basic observability.
- Some exposure to distributed systems and event‑driven architectures such as Kafka would be beneficial.
- Ability to work effectively in a team that values autonomy and empowerment, with a focus on delivering quality outcomes.
- Experience or exposure to working in cloud native, distributed environments, with an awareness of resilience and failure handling concepts.
