Join us as a Senior Business Risk Partner, Commercial & Institutional Banking. If you have experience in risk management and are passionate about enabling sustainable growth through proactive risk partnering with customer facing teams, this could be the ideal role for you.
You’ll partner with the customer businesses in Commercial & Institution (C&I) to identify, assess and manage risks within agreed risk appetite. Leading a small team of business risk partners, developing risk and control capability, through strong business processes, procedures and controls. Hone your partnering and people leadership skills in this fast-paced and varied role, with an emphasis on supporting our businesses to deliver for customers. Although some of your time may be spent working from home, you’ll also spend two days each week, or as required, working from the office to collaborate and connect with your colleagues.
What you'll do:
- As first point of contact on all aspects of risk management you’ll have an opportunity to make a vital contribution to driving intelligent risk taking and recommending solutions within the businesses.
- You’ll champion proactive risk identification and discovery, sharing best practices to ensure risks are managed and mitigated in a timely manner.
- We’ll look to you to ensure the business has strong processes, procedures and controls, including evidential standards supporting compliance to legal and regulatory obligations and relevant risk standards and policies.
- Day-to-day, you’ll be:
- Escalating emerging risks in a timely manner, making sure actions are quickly defined and owned working proactively with the business to operate within risk appetite.
- Driving a strong risk awareness across the business, contributing to the prioritisation, design and implementation of relevant controls through data led insights and intelligence.
- Actively contributing to risk forums, transformation programmes and growth initiatives that engage all relevant stakeholders to enable effective decision making and make sure that all aspects of risk management are considered and delivered.
- Managing the interface between the business, internal audit, second line of defence and other critical functions, as well as the business risk teams.
- Making sure that all aspects of risk management are delivered within the requirements of the policy framework and in accordance with regulatory risk requirements.
The skills you'll need:
- As well as a strong understanding of our non-personal products and services, you’ll need experience and expertise in identifying and managing both financial and non-financial risks within business/commercial teams in financial services along with a proven understanding and practical application of risk management principles.
- On top of this, you’ll bring:
- Strong senior stakeholder management skills.
- An innovative mindset and the ability to challenge the status quo, leveraging new technologies and automation to solve business problems.
- A clear track record of delivery.
- Influencing and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to view the impact of issues from a wider or macro perspective, using data led insights and intelligence.
- The ability to think creatively when resolving problems, be curious and identify alternatives where established procedures may not exist.
There are two roles available: one Partnering Business Banking and one Partnering with Commercial Mid-Market, both within C&I RFB.
