Join us as a Senior Risk & Controls Associate. We'll look to you to support, develop and embed the risk and control mechanisms for the business, independently overseeing and challenging the effective management of risks and controls.

Supporting the design, implementation and ongoing delivery of our risk framework and processes, you’ll work with stakeholders to drive compliance with key regulatory and policy requirements, and provide risk and control advice. Broaden your regulatory knowledge and understanding and develop in a strategic, proactive role which supports the management of the bank's risk profile.

What you'll do:

  • Act as a subject matter expert and help to develop, manage and implement our compliance and conduct policies for our products and services.
  • Partner with business stakeholders in Product or Operations and other functional areas to design and implement innovative solutions (e.g. new products or services) which meet the needs of the business whilst ensuring we remain within stated risk appetite.
  • Provide guidance and support in relation to risk and control management, ensuring regulatory obligations and internal governance requirements are met.
  • Ensure appropriate and intended customer and conduct outcomes are being delivered through processes and controls by working with Operations, Product and Technology teams.
  • Support the design, implementation and ongoing application of a risk-based controls framework, driving evolution of processes and key risk indicators.
  • Manage regulatory risk, including the identification, interpretation and implementation of regulatory requirements.
  • Risk partner to support resolution of ad-hoc events and incidents which expose the business to unanticipated risk.
  • Partner with a product or functional team to support development of compliant and controlled products, features, and services.
  • Act as an interface with wider NatWest stakeholders including senior risk colleagues in the design and implementation of risk-driven priorities, policies, and processes.
  • Develop and embed key Risk MI, including maintaining an up-to-date RAID log and escalating issues to Risk & Controls Lead and/or Chief Risk Officer as appropriate.

The skills you'll need:

  • Ability to risk partner Product and/or Operational teams to launch new products and/or services to the market.
  • Experience in a compliance, conduct or risk management role or similar relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of the regulatory environment and its frameworks, and ideally experience of interpreting regulatory rules and regulations.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Proven strong ability to problem solve with product and functional teams to deliver innovative compliant solutions.
  • Ability to convey complex information and ideas clearly to stakeholders and embed product policy, processes and controls that balance regulatory compliance and commerciality.
  • Confidence to influence and challenge senior risk stakeholders in the interpretation and implementation of internal policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience of working in a customer experience and/or customer design-led thinking environment.
  • Evidence of supporting the development of Lending and/or Savings products with external understanding of regulation applicable to either or both.
