Join us as an Assistant Workplace Design Manager. You’ll oversee the application of our workplace design concept, securing consistent, high-quality delivery across the bank’s property portfolio. Take the lead on design management activity across a diverse range of projects, from targeted enhancements to large scale office fit outs. What you’ll do:
- As an Assistant Workplace Design Manager, you’ll play a key role in shaping engaging office environments and colleague journeys. You’ll make sure these align with the commercial brief, programme objectives and overall design vision for our businesses and support teams.
- Working closely with senior leaders and key stakeholders, you’ll help deliver inspiring, functional and inclusive workplace environments that support colleagues, clients and customers.
- You’ll provide expert advice and guidance across all aspects of workplace design, including compliance, accessibility, inclusion, enablement and sustainability. Your work will be informed by sound data, user insight and industry best practice, so design solutions are both high quality and cost effective.
- You’ll also be building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, consultants and suppliers to support the successful delivery of creative and engaging workspaces.
- Collaborating with teams across Property Services, so design solutions are well coordinated, commercially viable and aligned to sustainability objectives.
- Managing external architects, interior designers and design partners to make sure projects achieve optimal performance, quality and value.
- Maintaining and developing your professional knowledge, staying up to date with workplace design trends, sustainability initiatives and evolving furniture solutions.
The skills you'll need:
- This role is well suited to someone early in their management journey, with a solid foundation in workplace design and a strong desire to develop their expertise in a supportive environment.
- You’ll bring a working knowledge of relevant legislation and standards, including the Equality Act 2010, Approved Document M, health and safety and environmental considerations.
- You’ll need to understand how these apply in real‑world design contexts.
- We’ll expect you to bring some experience in workplace design, with the confidence to contribute to projects while continuing to build your capabilities across design, delivery and stakeholder engagement.
- You’ll also demonstrate experience supporting office and workplace design projects, including space planning for hybrid and activity based working environments.
- The ability to deliver cost effective design solutions within defined budgets, balancing creativity with commercial awareness.
- An understanding of colleague journey mapping and user experience principles, with awareness of emerging workplace design trends.
- Experience supporting budget management, cost reporting and financial governance within a project environment.
