Our world-class graduate programme
As a graduate trainee in Finance, we’ll equip you with the knowledge, skills, and experiences you’ll need to make a significant impact through your work.
Over the course of this three-year programme, you will have 4 x 9 month placements (3 of which will be in Edinburgh or London with one of your placements being in Manchester) and you can expect to:
- Work with respected industry leaders to develop a comprehensive understanding of the financial services sector, products, and operations
- Quickly deepen your analytical skills and see how we use data to make decisions to improve what matters most to our customers
- Be involved in core finance activities, such as managing the bank’s balance sheet, reporting on financial performance, and developingalong-termfinancial strategy
- Nurture excellent relationship management skills by managing multiple stakeholders from a range of businesses
- Develop your ability to negotiate and challenge with purpose to make clear decisions and deliver good customer outcomes
- Tailor your experience by studying towards a professional accountancy qualification with ICAS
After three years, your programme will end. Before that, we’ll support you in applying for your next job and you’ll be well positioned to apply for finance roles inTax,Treasury, Investor Relations, Finance Partnering,and Business Intelligenceteams, and across our control functions.

To be eligible for our Finance graduate programme, you’ll need:
- Tohave, or be on course to achieving a 2:1 in your degree
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Great communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Creative problem-solving skills
- A real sense of initiative and resourcefulness in your work
