Our world‑class summer internship Our Engineering internship is structured differently from all other internships and is designed to give you a real appreciation of what it means to work for us as an Engineer. The programme emphasises agile ways of working and immerses you in a dynamic and collaborative environment in which you’ll gain exposure to the business, work alongside cross‑functional teams, and contribute to specialist projects. At the end of the internship, we’ll assess you on what you’ve learned. Complete this successfully and you could be offered a place on our Engineering graduate programme, where you can carry forward the skills you’ve learnt into the next steps of your career.

Over the course of this eight‑week programme, you can look forward to:

  • Actively participating and contributing to key projects
  • Attending scrum master stand‑ups and check‑ins to drive project progress and participation, as well as end‑of‑sprint demos, retros, and feedback sessions
  • Developing your engineering skills and applications through agile methodologies and NatWest ways of working
  • Joining regularly scheduled spotlight sessions with internal subject‑matter experts
  • Learning about how we operate, and the contribution NatWest Digital X and Engineering makes across our organisational functions including Retail, Wealth, and Corporate
  • Building an understanding of the products and services we provide for our customers and colleagues
  • Attending enhanced Engineering cohort‑specific networking experiences, social sessions, and inspirational speaker sessions

How you’ll benefit We’ll reward you with a starting salary of £29,400 pro rata. On top of your salary, you’ll also have access to our flexible benefits package.

Entry requirements

  • To be in your penultimate year of university
  • To be on course to achieving a 2:1 in a STEM subject
  • Clear communication skills, able to break down complex problems and explain your ideas
  • A curious, logical mindset with a passion for solving problems
  • Confidence working with data, statistics, and experimentation
  • A flexible attitude, comfortable with change and ambiguity
  • A drive to learn, grow, and make a real impact
