Join us as a FinOps Analyst. Hone your analytical skills as you provide support to ensure the financial health of the cloud platform, covering invoicing, chargeback and reporting. You’ll be supporting the cloud finance platform’s operational stability, financial health and technology performance, including maintaining any system’s utilities and tools provided by the platform. This is an opportunity to learn a variety of new skills in a constantly evolving environment, working closely with feature teams to continuously enhance your development.
As a FinOps Analyst, you’ll be providing input to, and supporting the team’s activities to make sure that the platform integrity is maintained in line with technical roadmaps, while supporting change demands from domains or centres of excellence. You’ll be supporting the delivery of a robust financial management service for relevant infrastructure platforms. In addition, you’ll be contributing to the delivery of customer outcomes, innovation, and early learning by contributing to test products and services to identify early on if they are viable and deliver the desired outcomes.
Working with Cloud FinOps colleagues, you’ll provide cost forecasting across the organisation cloud estate for proposed and planned changes or new workloads, and provide cost comparisons across the banks hosting environments on public and private cloud. You’ll also collaborate with our Supply Chain and Finance teams to report on enterprise level commitments versus consumption and future consumption across agreements such as AWS PPA and Microsoft EA.
Other responsibilities will include:
- Performing regular data analysis of our Cloud consumption across the bank cloud technologies to identify trends, usage spikes, and wastage removal to maximise return of investment to our business.
- Providing customised cloud reporting and dashboards to internal stakeholders to provide a mature insight into the drivers behind the costs of each business line, application, or service.
- Contributing as a member of the Cloud FinOps team, identifying cost optimisation opportunities including but not limited to rightsizing, reservations, savings plans, wastage removal, and technology upgrades.
- Taking ownership of regular cost optimisation forums with key stakeholders to maximise business value via the execution of cost-efficiency workstreams.
- Contributing to the cloud budget model, reporting actual cost versus budget, and reporting on cost tagging compliance across all Cloud venues to internal stakeholders.
- Creating and tracking KPIs for Cloud FinOps effectiveness and identifying and implementing improvements.
The skills you’ll need:
To succeed in this role, you’ll need to be a very capable communicator with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to colleagues, including management level. You’ll need a solid background working in an Agile or DevOps environment with continuous delivery and continuous integration. A FinOps Certified Practitioner certification is a must and other relevant cloud, such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or FinOps certifications would be advantageous.
Experience with Cloudability would be beneficial, as would familiarity with PowerBI, Tableau, or AWS QuickSight, along with experience working in an analytics role or with an analytics team. Ideally, you’ll have experience managing an on-premise data centre and private cloud.
We’ll also look to you to demonstrate:
- Proven experience in cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Proficiency with AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform cost management tools.
- Comprehensive knowledge of cloud services, pricing structures, and billing on public cloud.
- Experience with data analysis, financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting, cloud cost optimisation techniques, and financial reporting in a large enterprise environment.
- Experience in managing finances for an on-premise data centre and private cloud.
- Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
