Join us as a Business Risk Lead, NatWest Markets and Corporate & Institutional Banking. You’ll lead the end-to-end oversight of risks across the franchise, raising the standard of risk discovery in business areas and driving stronger alignment across risk types. Championing rigorous risk identification and evaluation through the RCSA process, you’ll make sure every assessment is delivered on cycle, to methodology, and to the highest standard. You will also lead on Financial Risks from a 1LOD standpoint across C&I. This is a highly visible role where you’ll partner with the business on growth initiatives as you provide risks insight and embed the right controls. You’ll be required to work from the office at least two days per week.
What you’ll do:
- In this leadership position, you’ll direct and coach a team of Business Risk Partners to support the C&I business, driving the continuous development of people and processes.
- You’ll guide your team to operate within risk appetite so they can contribute to business Risk Committees effectively.
- As an expert in creating a proactive risk management and generative risk culture, you’ll develop risk and control capability across both the Governance and Frameworks team and the wider function.
- We’ll look to you to make sure the business has strong processes, procedures, controls, training materials and evidential standards, supporting full compliance with its legal and regulatory obligations across multiple jurisdictions.
- You’ll also play a critical role in supporting the leadership team with the interface between the business, Internal Audit, second line of defence and other key functions.
- Leading your team to identify and drive continuous improvements across risk and control practices, simplifying processes for both colleagues and customers.
- Driving the transformation of capability across the Business Risk function to ensure the team is proactive risk managers.
- Supporting the interpretation and implementation of regulations and policy, delivering integrated control solutions that address operational, regulatory and conduct risk requirements and customer conduct outcomes.
- Overseeing events and incidents end-to-end, securing timely remediation and embedding lessons learned.
- Enabling strong, productive, business stakeholder relationships to ensure the timely, effective and efficient delivery of all issues, projects and initiatives.
- Collaborating across the franchise to facilitate joined up conversations and opportunities to problem solve collectively.
The skills you’ll need:
- To thrive in this role, you’ll bring deep experience and expertise in identifying and managing risk within Investment Banking.
- You’ll have an excellent understanding of the risks within your aligned business area, including product knowledge, and a clear view of what “good” looks like in the design and operation of effective controls.
- As our Business Risk Lead, you’ll also need the confidence and credibility to influence across ExCo-level stakeholders across all three lines of defence.
- An innovative mindset, contributing to the design and implementation of data testing and semi‑continuous or continuous assessment approaches.
- The ability to challenge the status quo, identify where activities can stop, and experiment with new approaches to deliver better insight and greater efficiency.
- Excellent communication skills, using compelling narratives to articulate risks clearly across the risk landscape.
