Join us as a SME Credit Team Leader in Wholesale Credit. This is an opportunity to put your credit skills to the test and take on a new career challenge in this regulated position. You’ll work within the SME credit team, focusing on our Commercial & Institutional business. You'll also sanction borrowing applications within a delegated authority level in accordance with current risk appetite, processes and procedures. What you’ll do:
- Exercise delegated authority and coach, mentor, and enable your team to provide appropriate credit decisions for lending transactions across a range of lending products and services.
- Work with the first line businesses and other risk teams, supporting the development of new credit related products and services, providing suitable oversight and challenge on proposed risk appetite, policies and processes.
- Lead a team of credit managers facing into the C&A franchise.
- Collaborate with our business and other colleagues to ensure that the portfolio, deal pipeline and emerging risk issues are fully understood.
- Lead oversight processes to provide assurance to senior management on appetite adherence and control processes.
- Attend relevant committees and fora to ensure that our risk appetite and concentration objectives are being considered when deciding on a credit strategy.
- Support intelligent risk taking, driving growth, optimising risk and delivering sustainable returns.
- Act as an ambassador for risk management and the Risk function, both within and external to the organisation.
- Provide support and guidance to colleagues within the function, on all matters of a credit nature.
- Drive a cost discipline, to identify and improve credit processes that can create efficiencies and enhance the customer proposition.
- Develop and coach your team of colleagues, to support them in achieving their career goals and potential.
The skills you’ll need:
- Experience of credit risk management tools and techniques, along with a practical understanding of credit risk management frameworks, policies, processes and controls.
- Experience in exercising a personal discretionary authority.
- A background of working in cross-divisional teams and the ability to collaborate with front line, credit and other stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- The ability to challenge effectively and constructively.
- A proven ability to lead transformation in your area of responsibility.
