Overview: This is an opportunity for a technically minded Software Engineer to join our Ventures business, where digital, innovation and strategy comes together.
What you'll do:
- Own the technical design and architecture for the most complex, mission-critical projects, and be hands-on by owning the end-to-end implementation and delivery of the most complex, technical modules.
- Enable our teams to leverage industry best practice and ship value to customers at pace.
- Work collaboratively across the business to resolve technical issues.
- Work with stakeholders across the business to shape the future of engineering and put the long-term interests of customers at the heart of key decisions.
- Proactively identify key operational issues, partner with engineering teams to resolve them, and drive continuous improvement of operational hygiene.
The skills you'll need:
- Strong background in software engineering, software design and architecture, with extensive experience developing software in a SOA or micro-services paradigm.
- Proven technical leadership experience for one or more teams and a track record of implementing best practice around scalability, availability and performance.
- Track record of proactively identifying and solving business problems.
- Technical leadership experience of one or more features and projects.
- Ability to effectively deliver value when faced with ambiguous problems.
- Ability to act as a subject matter expert and communicate clearly and empathetically to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Understanding how to translate business objectives into data-driven insights that can be leveraged by a team to produce better outcomes.
- Expert-level practical and theoretical knowledge of software development and substantial experience of message-driven architectures.
