We are looking for a technically minded Software Engineer to join NatWest Boxed. You’ll work with new and innovative technology to deliver high impact solutions and advance your career in a critical role.

What you’ll do

• You’ll join one of the core cross‑functional mission teams to build and develop the NatWest Boxed technology product.
• You will develop clean, elegant, and reusable code that is well‑tested and easy to maintain and extend.
• Work with stakeholders across the business to drive the direction of NW Boxed engineering and keep the long‑term interests of customers at the heart of key decisions.
• Collaborate across our backend chapter to uphold standards, best practices, and promote innovation.
• Work collaboratively with the team to resolve technical issues.
• Support and oversee junior engineers and act as a subject‑matter expert.

The skills you’ll need

• A strong background in software engineering, software design or database design and architecture.
• Solid practical and theoretical knowledge of Java software development and strong experience with Spring Boot / Micronaut.
• Understanding of Kubernetes / Docker.
• Excellent understanding of AWS deployment and configuration.
• Experience working with message‑driven architectures / Kafka / event sourcing.
• Experience working on a highly secure application.
• An understanding of how to translate business objectives into data‑driven insight.
