In our Bistro, we are passionate about creating delicious food made with carefully chosen organic, local, sustainable ingredients: fresh produce, ethically raised and grass‐fed meat and dairy, and products without additives or preservatives. Our customers love our fresh juices and smoothies, gourmet sandwiches and wraps, salads, hearty soups, entrées, and an array of baked goods. We offer tasty options for a variety of food preferences including vegan, vegetarian, gluten‐free and paleo diets.
What You'll Be Doing
- Manage the day‐to‐day operations and performance of the Bistro Department team, including setting direction for daily tasks, providing coaching, and taking a hands‐on approach to leadership.
- Set the standard of customer service expected from all Bistro employees and work with the management team to meet operational standards.
- Manage inventory and write orders to ensure adequate stock levels for the department while reducing food waste.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels to avoid over and under stock problems.
- Manage product storage, maintenance, and rotation activities to avoid damages or spoilages.
- Assist in preparation of inventory and sales budgets.
- Analyze profit and loss statements and recommend improvements to meet department goals.
- Develop sales promotion programs to attract more customers.
- Coordinate with employees to operate the Bistro to achieve sales goals.
- With support of the Store Manager, manage the human resource components of the team, including hiring, performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary conversations.
- Ensure cohesive interaction among all team members and undertake conflict resolution when necessary.
- Collaborate with other managers and corporate teams to provide new ideas and feedback and execute brand‐wide initiatives.
- Maintain and promote current knowledge of company policies and procedures, and hold team members accountable to following these as applicable.
- Champion the company mission and values by putting people first, doing the right thing, engaging with the community, and challenging expectations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Passion for organic food and natural medicine and love of the retail and grocery industry.
- Strong, effective leadership skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a management/supervisor role.
- Previous food service experience in a fast‐paced, customer‐centric environment.
- Experience in a retail environment, including food service, smoothie, coffee, and deli‐style services preferred.
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
- Delegator who can direct work of others while working as part of a team and fostering a positive work environment.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proven exceptional customer service skills.
- Food Safe certificate.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities under pressure.
