NatureFinance is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Events and Engagement Specialist to join our fast-paced international team. This role is critical in supporting the delivery of an ambitious engagement and communications agenda via live and virtual events that span all NatureFinance’s core priorities. This role is dedicated to the design and delivery of a high-quality events portfolio, with a focus on content-led outreach, partnerships, and impact.

The role demands a clear grasp of how events function as a strategic influencing tool that goes well beyond communications — specifically, an understanding of convening as an impact pathway: the ability to bring the right actors into the room at the right moment to shift thinking, build coalitions, and advance NatureFinance’s policy and market-change objectives. The Events and Engagement Specialist must be able to engage credibly with senior colleagues about what NF is trying to achieve strategically, so that events are designed and sequenced to serve those goals rather than simply to fill a calendar.

The Events and Engagement Specialist will take ownership of events from inception to delivery, taking strategic direction from the Senior Leadership Team. They will plan and execute high-impact events on time, and within budget to advance NatureFinance’s strategic objectives and deepen relationships with donors, partners, and high-level stakeholders. The role requires proactive and tenacious leadership, sound judgement, confident communication, and the ability to manage complex relationships with professionalism and discretion. They should be adaptable, resourceful, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

The right candidate will have a genuine, intrinsic affinity for the craft of events management — someone energised by the content curation, logistics, disciplines, and problem-solving that make events work. They must be fully available and reachable during live events (including multi-day international gatherings) and must demonstrate the ownership instinct to resolve issues and maintain continuity independently, rather than waiting for direction.

The role reports to the Partnerships Manager within the Strategic Partnerships and Impact team, with a dotted line to Communications. This is a remote role and requires regular collaboration with colleagues across multiple geographies. To facilitate close working relationships and effective coordination of international events, preference will be given to candidates based in the United Kingdom or within the Central European Time (CET) zone. The successful candidate must also be able to accommodate occasional international travel and flexible working hours during live events.

The primary responsibilities expected from the successful candidate are:

  • Event Coordination & Delivery: Lead delivery of high-impact, content-led engagement events (online, in-person, and hybrid), ensuring each event is aligned with NatureFinance’s strategic priorities as determined through engagement with the Senior Leadership Team/workstream colleagues.
  • Work closely with senior leaders to regularly review and rationalize the events pipeline, actively identifying where colleagues are attempting to achieve too many objectives in a single setting and helping to curate and prioritize for maximum strategic impact.
  • Plan and deliver complex, multi-workstream events with high visibility, managing concurrent events across content planning, logistics, communications, and on-the-day delivery to consistently high standards.
  • Manage event budgets, supplier procurement, and third-party liaison, ensuring value for money and compliance with NatureFinance’s financial and operational requirements.
  • Use project management systems and collaborative planning tools to manage event workflows, ensuring timelines, responsibilities, and dependencies are clear and on track.
  • Maintain and update an internal and external event calendar, tracking invitations, attendee lists, and follow-up.
  • Own all standard pre-event communication disciplines without prompting establishing regular check-ins with colleagues in the weeks before each event; sending timely attendee confirmation emails (including standard 48-hour and 24-hour reminders); and ensuring all logistical materials — attendee lists (organized and ready for on-the-day use), run-of-show documents, and supplier contacts — are prepared and shared with the team ahead of delivery.
  • Maintain full availability and responsiveness during live events, including remaining reachable outside standard office hours for the duration of multi-day gatherings.

Stakeholder Management and Briefing:

  • Prepare and deliver high-quality briefing materials for senior leadership and event participants, covering context, schedules, and participant requirements.
  • Coordinate speaker and stakeholder engagement, including invitations, briefings, and coordination to ensure smooth event execution.
  • Liaise with internal teams to ensure alignment between event strategy, external opportunities, and NatureFinance’s communications and partnerships objectives.
  • Represent NatureFinance with appropriate tone and professionalism in all internal and external interactions, understanding that the Events and Engagement Specialist is often a first point of contact for senior participants and partners.

Evaluation and Learning:

  • Evaluate each event against agreed objectives, assessing outcomes related to partner engagement, relationship progression, and strategic goals.
  • Use insights from each event to refine future strategies, strengthen messaging, and improve the quality and effectiveness of high-value engagements.
  • Maintain accurate records in NatureFinance’s CRM and associated systems, ensuring GDPR compliance and capturing activity data to support ongoing evaluation.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A degree in business administration, management, or a related field is a plus, but not a requirement. Relevant certifications or equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
  • At least five years of dedicated event management experience, with a demonstrable track record of delivering complex, high-quality events for senior or high-value audiences.
  • Fluency in English, oral and written is mandatory. Proficiency in other languages is an advantage.
  • Significant experience organizing and delivering online, in-person, and hybrid events, including end-to-end logistics, scheduling, and multi-workstream management.
  • Professional demeanor and strong relationship-building skills with senior and external stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing high-quality briefing materials, event communications, and correspondence.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent events and workstreams, monitor progress, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A strong, self-directed problem-solving instinct.
  • Experience managing event budgets and procurement processes, ensuring quality and value for money.
  • High standard of accuracy in planning documents, communications, and event materials.
  • Experience with project management tools and Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint).

Desirable Skills & Experience (Not Required but Beneficial):

  • Experience working in a non-profit, finance, or sustainability-focused organization.
  • Cross-cultural awareness and experience working in international settings.
  • Knowledge of CRM tools for stakeholder and event management.
  • Understanding of event-related health and safety, risk, and compliance requirements.

Recruitment Process:

  • Initial interview
  • Skills assessment – A practical task-based exercise testing event planning disciplines, content curation, attention to detail, and independent problem-solving.
  • Final interview panel
