Here at Nature Positive, part of the wider RSK Group, we are currently looking for an experienced consultant to join our carbon, climate and built environment team.

Location: the role is mixed home/office-based, with the expectation to spend at least two days per week in our offices in one of Bath, Bristol, London or Manchester.

Hours: Ideally full-time (40 hours a week), although applicants able to work four days/32 hours a week will be considered.

Duration: This is a fixed-term maternity leave replacement contract for nine months. There is a possibility of transferring to a permanent role at the end of the contract.

The Role: As our Senior Consultant you will be conducting and managing complex greenhouse gas (GHG) assessments, verifications, and reports to GHG Protocol and other relevant industry standards. This will include data collection and quality assurance, calculations, and reporting/disclosure. You will also be helping develop decarbonisation targets and plans to help guide organisations towards lower GHG emissions. There will also be an opportunity for you to support wider works across the team as required, including climate risk and EIA projects.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Carbon reduction target-setting using the SBTi method or other methods.
  • Providing training and technical support to other team members.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders through workshops and consultations to promote climate action.
  • Delegating tasks to more junior colleagues where appropriate, and providing suitable support as required.
  • Project and account management, including managing relationships with key clients.
  • Contributing to work-winning, including writing project proposals and tenders.
  • Assisting with managing our internal carbon footprinting software system.
  • Attending direct and broader team meetings online and face-to-face as required.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

Required:

  • First or 2:1 BA/BSc qualification in a relevant discipline, or demonstration of equivalent practical experience.
  • At least three years of demonstrable relevant experience (in either a consultancy or in-house environment; consultancy preferred) of conducting organisational GHG assessments.
  • Strong quantitative and Excel skills (to be assessed in the recruitment process).
  • Experience of project administration and management, including financial management, invoicing and project budgeting.
  • Experienced and comfortable in presenting complex information in a clear way, orally and in writing.

Desirable:

  • Membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g. ISEP, Energy Institute).
  • Experience with using, managing and/or developing software platforms.
  • WLC assessment experience in the built environment.
  • Familiarity with climate risk assessment/TCFD, and/or transition planning.
  • Experience with GIS, Alterxy, Python, or other relevant software.
  • Previous line management or delegation experience.

You possess a strong understanding of sustainability principles and carbon accounting methodologies.
