About Naturalmat

At Naturalmat we've been hand making organic beds & mattresses at our workshop on the banks of the river Exe in Devon since 1999. We buy all of our raw materials direct from source, we manufacture everything ourselves and we only sell direct to customer via our own showrooms and website. It's this level of control that allows us to offer the best possible product and experience to our customers.

Sustainability has been at our core since day one. We've always used natural, organic materials from renewable sources, we pioneered sustainable packaging, and installed solar panels on the roof of our workshop. In 2020 we received a Queen's Award for Sustainable Development and in 2023 we became the first B Corp certified bed & mattress company in the UK.

We've recently opened a new head office, workshop & showroom on our existing site in Topsham and are fortunate to be growing fast as a business. We currently have showrooms in London, Devon, Knutsford, the Cotswolds and Dorking, and plan to open more around the country each year.

About the role

We're looking for an experienced E-Commerce Manager to take ownership of our digital channel and help shape the next chapter of Naturalmat's growth. Since re-platforming to Shopify Plus in 2022, our e-commerce operation has evolved significantly, powering not just our customer-facing website, but the back-office systems that keep our whole business running smoothly.

As an omnichannel retailer, we believe the best customer experience is one that moves seamlessly between our website and our showrooms. Most customers begin their journey online – reading our story, learning about our materials, or browsing our range. If they're buying bedding, the majority will transact online, but if they're looking for a bed or mattress they'll probably head to one of our showrooms to try them out and get advice from our team. We don't favour one route over the other; what matters is that the customer can choose what's right for them, and that the experience is brilliant however they decide to shop with us. In this role, you'll be responsible for ensuring the digital experience keeps pace with our ambitions, continually improving how we tell our story, present our range, and convert visitors into loyal Naturalmat customers.

Responsibilities

  • Website & Shopify Management
    • Own the day-to-day management of the Naturalmat website on Shopify Plus, ensuring it performs well, is up-to-date, and is the best possible reflection of the brand.
    • Lead website development projects, working with our web agency to continuously improve functionality and user experience.
    • Create & manage product listings, collections and content pages, ensuring accuracy and consistency across the site.
    • Work proactively with the marketing and creative teams to suggest new photography and video content which will improve the online experience.
    • Work with the member of our team who manages how Shopify integrates with our wider business systems.
  • Trading & Commercial Performance
    • Working in collaboration with the marketing and product teams, own the e-commerce trading calendar, planning promotions, seasonal campaigns, and product launches to drive both online and in-store revenue.
    • Monitor and report on key e-commerce metrics – traffic, conversion rate, average order value, and revenue – identifying opportunities to improve performance.
    • Use data to identify and act on opportunities to improve conversion, reduce abandonment, and increase average order value.
  • Customer Experience & CRO
    • Continuously improve the online customer journey, from first visit through to post-purchase.
    • Create and optimise landing pages to support seasonal campaigns, paid traffic and key product categories.
    • Work closely with the showroom teams to ensure a seamless omnichannel experience.
  • Digital Marketing
    • Work closely with the marketing team on our Klaviyo email programme, ensuring robust integration with the website, optimising email capture and list growth, and managing automated flows such as welcome and post-purchase journeys.
    • Own our SEO strategy to improve organic visibility.
    • Monitor the evolving landscape of AI-powered search and ensure Naturalmat is well-represented across platforms such as ChatGPT.
