The role Natural Resources Wales is seeking a reliable and organised Facilities Officer to support the effective, safe, and customer‑focused operation of our buildings across the Meirionydd area. This operational role involves providing day‑to‑day support to the Facilities Operational Team and contributing to the safe, compliant, and efficient management of NRW workplaces. You will handle administrative and organisational tasks, including managing documentation such as emails, invoices, and schedules, and gathering and relaying information from various sources. You will also process payments for goods and services, manage NRW equipment, and support active monitoring activities to ensure the safe use of NRW equipment and information. You will be contracted to the NRW office at Coed y Mynydd, Dolgellau or Bala site and will need to travel regularly to sites within your allocated hub, often using an NRW electric vehicle. Driving is an essential part of this role, and you must hold a full and current UK driving licence.

About us: You will join a professional and committed Facilities team responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our offices, depots, and public‑facing sites across the North West area of Wales. Our work ensures that all environments are safe, functional, and aligned with the needs of staff and service users. Managing a diverse portfolio—from operational depots to public facilities—you will work closely with colleagues, contractors, and internal teams to deliver responsive and efficient services. Your role will support compliance, coordination, and ongoing improvement across the estate. What you will do:

  • Ensure the operational Facilities team is supported in its role of delivering key facilities management service for NRW.
  • Provide excellent customer service and foster a culture of continuous improvement in delivering frontline facilities management services for NRW's customers, ensuring statutory and legal compliance across NRW's buildings and other assets.
  • Undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post.

  • Required to take part in incident response activities.

Your qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills:

In your application and interview you will be asked to demonstrate the following skills and experience using the STAR method:

  • Associate of Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) or willing to work towards.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety legislation relating to the Health & Safety at Work Act.
  • Experience of delivering Facilities Management services in both operational and shared service environments, including carrying out process‑driven tasks, supporting contract and contractor management, and providing service support to frontline operational teams.
  • Strong IT and data entry skills, with a high level of accuracy, alongside good organisational skills and the ability to manage tasks effectively using ICT systems and other applications.
  • Good written and verbal skills and the ability to communicate confidently, with excellent customer service skills and the ability to work under pressure using your own initiative to meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience of implementing change or process improvement would also be advantageous.

Welsh Language level requirements:

Essential: Level A1 – Entry level. Please note: if you do not meet the A1 requirement (ability to understand basic phrases and pronounce Welsh names correctly), NRW offers a variety of learning options and staff support to help you meet these minimal requirements during the course of your employment with us.
