The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.

The Facilities Officer role is an operational, site-based position and is therefore not suited to hybrid working. The post-holder will be required to travel between several NRW buildings within the local geographical area, extending up to approximately 30 miles east of Aberystwyth, with occasional travel to Lampeter to meet with other hub team members.

The role involves carrying out and recording a range of statutory and compliance tasks, including fire alarm testing, water temperature monitoring, and other routine checks to ensure buildings remain safe and legally compliant. You will also meet, induct, and oversee contractors undertaking planned and reactive maintenance, as well as support the delivery of minor project work. While the role requires a high degree of independence, you will have access to support, guidance, and direction from the Hub Coordinator and Team Leader. Driving is an essential and integral part of this role. You will often be required, sometimes at short notice, to attend routine or ad-hoc site visits, including to remote locations. For this reason, you must hold a full and current UK driving licence.

You will join a professional and committed Facilities team responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our offices, depots, and public-facing sites across West and Mid Wales. Our work ensures that all environments are safe, functional, and aligned with the needs of staff and service users. Managing a diverse portfolio—from operational depots to public facilities—you will work closely with colleagues, contractors, and internal teams to deliver responsive and efficient services. Your role will support compliance, coordination, and ongoing improvement across the estate. What you will do:

  • Ensure Facilities Operational team is supported in its role of delivering key Facilities management service for NRW.
  • Provide excellent customer service and foster a culture of continuous improvement in delivering frontline Facilities management services for NRW's customers which are essential in ensuring statutory and legal compliance in across NRW's buildings and other assets.
  • Undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post.
  • Be committed to Natural Resources Wales Equal Opportunities and Diversity Policy, together with an understanding of how it operates within the responsibilities of the post.

Your qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills:

In your application and interview you will be asked to demonstrate the following skills and experience using the STAR method:

  • Good knowledge of health and safety legislation relating to the Health & Safety at Work Act.
  • Associate of Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) or willing to work towards.
  • Experience of delivering a service in a Facilities management environment, performing process and procedure tasks, assisting in the management of contracts and contractors, and delivering support to the frontline Facilities Operational teams.
  • Experience of delivering Facilities management related services within a shared service centre environment, including the use of ICT systems and other software/applications.
  • Strong IT and accurate data entry skills.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Good written and verbal skills and the ability to communicate confidently, with excellent customer service skills and the ability to work under pressure using your own initiative in order to meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience of implementing change or process improvement would also be advantageous.

Welsh Language level requirements:

Essential: Level A1 - Entry level Welsh language levels. Please note if you do not meet the A1 requirement i.e., ability to understand basic phrases and ability to pronounce Welsh names correctly, then NRW offers a variety of learning options and staff support to help you meet these minimal requirements during the course of your employment with us.
