The role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Operational and Technical Support Officer to join our team and support the delivery of Natural Resources Wales' monitoring programmes and incident response services.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute directly to environmental protection by helping to maintain high standards of compliance, data quality and reporting.
In this role, you will provide essential technical, logistical and operational support to NRW Analytical Services and wider sampling teams. You will help ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems, legal Chain of Custody requirements and Health and Safety regulations. Responsibilities will include processing environmental samples, coordinating laboratory dispatch activities, managing analytical data, supporting enforcement investigations and contributing to the continued development of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Your work will play a critical role in maintaining the accuracy, integrity and traceability of environmental data that underpins NRW's statutory monitoring, regulatory reporting and pollution prevention activities.
About us
Natural Resources Wales (NRW) is the largest Welsh Government Sponsored Body, responsible for protecting and enhancing the natural resources of Wales for the benefit of current and future generations.
NRW Analytical Services (NRWAS) is a UKAS-accredited laboratory, operating to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and based at Swansea University's Singleton Campus. We provide essential analytical support for NRW's statutory monitoring programmes, including those required under the Water Framework Directive, Environmental Quality Standards Directive and Habitats Directive.
Acting as the central hub for evidential and monitoring samples, NRWAS receives and processes hundreds of samples each week, supporting both in-house analysis and third-party laboratory testing. We also supply sampling equipment and provide technical support to teams across NRW, helping to ensure the delivery of robust, high-quality environmental data.
We are a collaborative and professional team committed to supporting NRW's vital work in protecting and enhancing the natural environment of Wales, and we look forward to welcoming new colleagues.
