The Role
The Natural History Museum Tring, located in Hertfordshire, welcomes 145,000 visitors a year to our Victorian galleries and grounds. From toddlers to adults, including school educational groups and adult interest groups, the Museum provides an outstanding visitor experience for all our visitors and stands as an exemplar of customer service in the Museum sector.
The Visitor Assistant team are at the front and centre of this outstanding visitor experience by providing a welcoming, enjoyable, and safe experience for all our visitors.
As a member of a team of four Visitor Assistants on any given day, the role entails a wide range of responsibilities including opening the museum at the beginning of the day and securing the Museum at the end of the day, meeting and greeting visitors, managing visitor flow, actively engaging with our visitors and answer a wide range of queries, be responsible for assisting in emergency evacuations, assisting with the arrival and organisation of school groups, promote events (and assist in their set-up), and working in the Museum\’s shop.
Rota pattern includes weekends and bank holidays, and pattern may change to suit the operation of the Museum, with an appropriate period of notice given.
About You
Your primary focus will be on delivering outstanding customer service and ensuring that every visitor enjoys a memorable and engaging visitor experience. With demonstrable experience of working in a customer facing environment, you will enjoy employing your excellent customer service skills in a truly unique environment that requires adaptability, teamwork, and a positive attitude.
Your strong communication and interpersonal skills, and passion for customer service will be key in creating a welcoming atmosphere for our visitors. You’ll thrive on multitasking and working at pace, supporting your colleagues in range of roles including retail till work and providing a safe environment for our visitors.
