The Role
The Natural History Museum’s new strategy to 2031 declares a planetary emergency and describes the role of the Museum in addressing this. The Museum’s vision is to create a future where people and planet thrive, and its mission is to create advocates for the planet. To help us deliver our vision and mission the Museum is transforming its public spaces with a series of new galleries, outlined in the Public Space Plan (PSP) and titled the NHM 150 programme.
The NHM 150 Senior Interpretation Developer (SID)’s primary role is to develop and deliver narratives and interpretation for the new permanent galleries as part of the NHM 150 programme of activity. It will work both collaboratively and independently to deliver content work packages for one, and occasionally two, galleries simultaneously. It will work closely with colleagues in Interpretation, Audience Research, Collections, Design and other teams across the museum to deliver gallery concepts, narratives, and interpretation approaches, as well as to select objects and specimens for display.
There are 3x vacancies for this position:
- x2 Senior Interpretation Developer ending 31 March 2030.
- x1 Senior Interpretation Developer ending 30 June 2026 (Maternity cover).
About You
We are looking for an experienced Museum professional who has a passion for delivering exciting, thought-provoking and scientifically robust content onto the gallery floor. Also, someone who would be excited to be part of this transformative programme at the Natural History Museum. Alongside their passion to deliver, they should demonstrate detailed and creating thinking; an ability to research and write and an ability to be flexible and positive in the way they work.

Hybrid working
