The predicted salary is between 40000 - 50000 £ per year.

Small cohort of 3 people including the successful applicant, working with a level equivalent advisor and a senior advisor. The successful applicant will form part of a much larger Northumbria team. The role will be permanent within the Northumbria Area team. We're seeking someone who is keen to contribute to the Government’s aspiration to increase woodland cover across England.

Natural England has a crucial role in helping to realise this ambition, both through provision of technical advice and by influencing how new tree establishment can contribute to nature recovery, climate resilience, flood risk mitigation, water quality and social benefits. You will have a good ecological understanding of protected sites, priority habitats/species and the opportunities and threats that woodland creation brings to these. You will have confidence in providing technical advice on this to our partners and a range of land managers. The ability to prioritise casework will be important. The role will require travel to sites and meetings across the team areas and a driving licence is therefore required for the role.

Technical/Specialist Knowledge

  • Technical understanding of landscape-scale nature recovery, specifically the benefits and risks of new woodland establishment in relation to nature recovery: key priority habitats, priority species, ecosystem services and climate change. (Essential)
  • The ability to resolve problems and manage risks that requires significant levels of judgement and interpretation with innovative solutions. (Essential)
