We are seeking an exceptional Head of Quality and Standards to lead and champion quality assurance and continuous improvement across teaching, learning and assessment. This is a pivotal senior leadership role, ideal for an experienced quality professional who is passionate about inclusive education, collaboration, and driving real impact for learners. You will play a key role in shaping and assuring the quality of provision across the college, ensuring our students receive the highest possible educational experience.
As Head of Quality and Standards, you will provide independent oversight and leadership of quality improvement, inspection readiness and professional development. Working closely with the Principal, Vice Principal and Senior Management Team, you will ensure that quality processes are robust, evaluative and focused on continuous improvement. You will also be a key advisor to the Teaching, Learning and Assessment Committee, providing clear, insightful reporting and challenge.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the college’s strategy for teaching, learning and assessment quality
- Designing and implementing self-assessment and quality improvement planning
- Establishing and chairing quality performance and improvement meetings
- Providing independent evaluation of educational quality and improvement initiatives
- Overseeing professional development, including teacher training, mentoring and coaching
- Leading approaches to student voice and learner feedback
- Ensuring compliance with external inspection and regulatory frameworks (e.g. Ofsted)
- Managing complaints related to academic standards and awarding body procedures
- Monitoring student progress to identify and address gaps and underperformance
- Contributing as an active member of the Senior Management Team
Who we’re looking for:
You will be a values‑led, collaborative leader with substantial experience of quality assurance within education, ideally including specialist or inclusive provision.
You will have:
- A degree (or equivalent) and a teaching qualification
- Proven senior‑level experience leading SAR, QIP and inspection readiness
- Strong understanding of inclusive practice, safeguarding and learner wellbeing
- Experience working within inspection and regulatory frameworks
- Confidence in analysing data and evidence to drive improvement
- Excellent communication, evaluation and report‑writing skills
- A coaching approach, with the ability to challenge and support colleagues constructively
- Experience of SEND or high‑needs provision is essential, and a leadership, management or coaching qualification is desirable.
