Bridgend College are looking for an Examination Access and Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD) Support Assessor to join our enthusiastic ALN team.

  • Salary: Salary Scale 6/S01: £34,204 – £40,503 per annum pro rata
  • Hours: 37 hours per week (Term Time Only for 38 weeks and Permanent)

Job Description

The role will be responsible for conducting diagnostic testing in line with JCQ requirements to ensure appropriate examination access arrangements have been awarded to learners and will liaise with tutors and the exams team to ensure processes for requesting assessment are followed correctly. The successful candidate will also carry out diagnostic testing and screening assessments as required to ensure appropriate support strategies can be provided to students with specific learning difficulties (SpLD), including Dyslexia, Dyscalculia and Dyspraxia.

In line with the college’s inclusive approach to teaching, learning and assessment, the Examination Access and SpLD Support Assessor will provide strategies and resources to support learning support assistants and teaching staff, as appropriate, to ensure the learning needs of all learners with specific learning difficulties are appropriately met. The role involves offering learners a safe, non‑judgemental space to discuss a personal and potentially difficult topic for them. This must be handled with expert care and professional boundaries.

This post is subject to a satisfactory/enhanced DBS disclosure for child and adult workforce and registration as a FE Learning Support Worker with the Education Workforce Council.
