Purpose of the role: As a key member of the team, the Operations Assistant will be expected to provide a broad range of support activities as instructed by local management to ensure the efficient running of the Airport operation. Demonstrating a high level of flexibility, the Operations Assistant will provide a general support service to the local unit.

Accountabilities:

  • Providing support across the airport, including purchasing related activities & financial control, visitor contacts/permits/passes, vehicle management, maintaining filing systems, and document control.
  • Maintaining operational statistics, databases, and reporting which might include AAVA reports, KPIs, and reconciliation of traffic statistics.
  • Airside driving and other reasonable administration support activities as required.
  • Receiving and actioning flight plans/flight progress strips and other related flight data at non-EFPS units.
  • Met observations using appropriate equipment if required by the unit.
  • Support tasks related to the ATC simulator including input support and acting as a pseudo pilot where required.
  • Accurate recording of flight information and reports using appropriate technology/equipment (ATIS).
  • Instructing and training new team members.
  • Use of any new equipment installed in the airport to help with operational support tasks.

Qualifications, professional knowledge and skills:

  • A good standard of literacy and numeracy is essential for these roles.
  • The post holder will possess a minimum of five GCSEs grades A-C to include maths and English.
  • A strong team player is required with the ability to demonstrate flexibility in meeting various working demands.
  • Effective communication skills at all levels of the organisation and with customers of NATS.
  • Good IT skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • New staff will receive on-the-job training in the various activities undertaken in this job.
  • Successful completion of a Met Observation Scheme subject to unit requirement.
  • Driving licence essential.
