Job Purpose/Overview:

Our Insurance Team is a small, highly dedicated team tasked with maintaining a comprehensive corporate insurance service to NATS. The Insurance adviser provides support to the Head of Insurance and Senior Insurance Adviser, in relation to activities performed by key internal stakeholders covering facilities management, health and safety, commercial, supply chain and legal.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance to internal & external stakeholders on NATS insurances in particular: Group Business Travel, Risks, Contractors & Contract Works, Motor, Goods in Transit and Hired in Plant.
  • Deal with Employers Liability/Group Travel/Minor Third Party insurance claims (including incidents that could give rise to a claim), undertaking the claims notification and claims management procedures. This may involve interaction with a NATS broker, Legal, HR, employees, third parties and external lawyers.
  • Ensure monies due from insurers are received and processed promptly, and complete monthly reconciliations.
  • Request renewal information throughout NATS at all levels & present the information to Brokers in compliance with the Insurance Act 2015, also maintain Insurance Act records as per Insurance Act requirements.
  • Undertake month end accounting functions in relation to insurance premiums.
  • Collate renewal invoices, policy schedules, insurance policies and all forms of evidence of renewals from all brokers then distribute the necessary documents to internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure premium payment processes are followed, including overseas premiums, providing a robust audit trail (working closely with SCM using the eProcurement system Ariba).
  • Record and monitor Insurance Broker Performance through agreed KPI's, reporting results on a monthly basis.
  • Responsible for the insurance team notices, guidelines, procedures and internal control spreadsheets, ensuring a complete audit trail.
  • Liaise and communicate with relevant business areas in relation to insurance fire risk surveys at sites agreed by NATS' relevant lead insurer (and any other required site visits). Follow up on survey recommendations with the relevant business areas, ensuring sign-off by insurers.
  • Ensure Self Insured losses are accurately recorded, to enable a comprehensive company-wide risk management profile is maintained at all times.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • A Chartered Institute of Insurance (CII) Certificate is advantageous, however we can fully support a successful candidate to study towards CII certification.
  • Existing work history in Insurance is plus - but not essential, as we provide full training (We find a background in finance / accounting to also be a natural transition, and those working within a similar large / complex corporate environment.)
  • Able to work collaboratively, a good confident communicator.
  • Able to tackle changing priorities, and tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrate a fully professional approach - with a very high level of discretion and confidentiality.
