Purpose of Job

The Finance Business Partner plays a key role in supporting the Head of Finance Business Partnering / Senior Business Partner and provides financial leadership to the Operations Leadership teams in the running of the division. This includes partnering with their business area and wider leadership teams to provide financial management, support, expert advice and consultancy on financially related matters. This role also supports delivery of the wider finance vision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Improve the impact, and understanding, of financial reporting on business performance;
  • Provide analysis and deliver insight, linking financial reports to business strategies;
  • Provide effective commercial procedures, or initiate change, to ensure key operational, commercial & financial targets are delivered;
  • Build strong relationships with senior managers and their teams;
  • Deputise for the Head of Business Partnering / Finance Manager in senior leadership meetings, as appropriate;
  • Apply a good understanding of the relevant regulatory framework and effectively communicate essential information to the business;
  • Ensure that robust financial governance is in place and corporate governance is being systematically complied with;
  • Challenge local management and work closely with the senior leadership team to provide business insight and influence business outcomes;
  • Support the Head of Business Partnering in respect of finance related business activity, driving efficiency and cost control, the NATS values, financial controls and culture changes;
  • Support and deputise for the Head of Business Partnering at review meetings with key stakeholders where appropriate, monitoring our financial performance against contractual benchmarks;
  • Liaise with SMEs in other parts of Finance and with the business area to deliver and provide feedback on wider Finance projects;
  • Support the Head of Business Partnering to promote financial policy deployment and implementation plans, ensuring feedback into business planning and financial reporting and promoting financial policy compliance.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • A qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA), with relevant experience gained across a range of finance functions;
  • Comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment and confident to support the implementation of change initiatives;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and able to:
    • Communicate with, present to and influence, local management teams and senior / executive management;
    • Write effective reports which are insightful, clear, concise and distil relevant data;
  • Able to provide commercial insight, build interactions and influence stakeholders, and apply analytical skills beyond the traditional functions of finance;
  • Proactive and self-motivated, able to identify and complete tasks with limited guidance and supervision and deliver to stretching deadlines without compromising on quality of output.
