The Young Professionals Programme (YPP) is a global three-year programme that offers an opportunity for personal and professional development in a diverse and inclusive work environment. The programme aims to ensure NATO continues to respond with unity, strength, and resolve to growing dangers to security across the Euro-Atlantic area and in all domains.

Your role during the programme includes assignments to three different NATO bodies:

  • Year 1 - Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA) - (London, United Kingdom)
  • Year 2 - NATO International Military Staff (IMS) - (Brussels, Belgium)
  • Year 3 - Allied Command Operations (ACO) – NATO Communications & Information Systems Group (NCISG) - (Mons, Belgium)

This is an opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills in Cyber Defence and Emerging and Disruptive Technologies (EDTs). Responsibilities include:

  • Incorporating aspects of cyberspace situational awareness and integrating the cyberspace perspective into a coherent dimension.
  • Analysing structured and unstructured data for operational and strategic reports.
  • Supporting NATO’s efforts in introducing innovation in defence planning and capability development.
  • Contributing to the lifecycle of cyber defence capabilities development.
  • Staying abreast of current cyber threats and assessing risks to NATO and its Member States.
  • Applying data from operational incidents to strengthen cyber defence capabilities.
  • Contributing to cyber security operations and incident management.
  • Supporting the security accreditation process for innovation products and AI tools.
  • Researching new trends within Cyber Defence & EDTs.

We are looking for candidates with at least one year of professional experience and a Master’s degree in relevant fields such as cyber studies, data science, international security, political science, engineering, or computer science. Additional experience or skills that would be considered an asset include:

  • Experience in cyber operations or analysis.
  • Knowledge of security software and cybersecurity regulations.
  • Understanding of computer and communication security principles.
  • Experience in developing and implementing computer security policies.
  • Interest in hacking and intelligence on cyber threats.
  • Experience with data analysis tools.
  • Interest in artificial intelligence and machine learning.
  • Strong analytical and drafting skills.
  • Teamwork and excellent communication skills.
