Are you a hands-on developer with strong C#/.NET expertise and experience working directly with trading desks? This is a software proximity position where you’d be building and supporting real-time trading tools used directly by Front Office teams, working closely with traders and quants in a fast-moving live trading environment.

Provide the business (Commodities Markets) with flexible, scalable and tailored user software applications where proximity developments and resources are necessary. Main users are front office (trading, sales and structuring) but the team also provides tools to control and support (Middle office, Risk, back office, trade support) teams when necessary.

The role combines hands-on development and critical production support, with a focus on delivering robust and pragmatic solutions in a fast-paced environment. The team contributes in designing and implementing a resilient, efficient and scalable Information System for Commodities Markets (CM), in close cooperation with other relevant IT, business and operational teams in London and worldwide.

As part of the CM IT department, the team follows its governance. Provide the business with software applications following in-house proximity development lifecycle comprising the following steps:

  • User needs collection and anticipation.
  • Analysis of these needs and definition of the required specifications.
  • Multiple solutions proposal: where applicable, provide the sponsors with studies comparing the different options and solutions to facilitate strategic decision making.
  • Implementation and delivery of retained solutions.
  • Support and documentation.
  • Bug tracking, continuous software evolution.

Contribute to technical design and quality regarding architecture, technologies and IT solution analysis, problem solving and escalation. As part of the global proximity development team, transpose and follow its software development standards, methodologies and procedures. Work directly with CM Quants, MOA, MOE and other relevant teams. Carry out training and skills assessments at regular intervals. Follow the branch compliance rules.

Mandatory

  • Strong experience in C#/.NET development, including WPF or similar desktop UI technologies.
  • Proven experience supporting business-critical applications in a production Front Office environment.
  • Good understanding of financial markets and financial derivatives (e.g., options pricing, Greeks, and curve construction concepts).
  • Knowledge on Commodities markets and products is a plus.

Business experience – required

  • Development & maintenance of IT systems in financial markets.
  • Understanding of derivatives.
  • Exposure to front-office.
  • Experience in managing frontline support for pre-trade tools.
  • Commodities trading business knowledge (Preferred).

Technical skills – required

  • .NET, C#, .NET Core, Entity Framework, WPF, Angular.
  • Familiarity with market data (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters) and building service-based APIs.
  • Databases: SQL Server, MongoDB.
  • Containerisation, Micro-services.
  • Visual Studio (Microsoft), JetBrain Rider.

Personal skills – required

  • Strong interest in the global markets business.
  • Fast-learner and pro-active approach.
  • Good communication skills (business and technical-oriented).
  • Calm and effective under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Additional skills – required

  • Strong experience with Agile methodologies, Sprints, Kanban Board, Sprints review, Dev Ops solution.
  • Ability to work with teams and stakeholders globally.
  • Experience in liaising with Senior Management – Head of Desks, Business Managers, Senior Front Office users.
  • Previous experience in working with Banks and Financial Institutions.
  • Ability to work in a demanding environment with strong business exposure.
