We’re looking for an IT Support Technician to join our dedicated team at an investment bank in the City of London. This role provides first and second level support for all internal IT equipment and services, including the trading floor.
- Key Role
- Provide first and second level support and guidance to users of all decentralized IT equipment and services, including trade floor.
- Support, roll out and maintain all desktop equipment.
- User assistance and guidance.
- Apply security updates.
- Conduct regular hardware and software audits.
- Analyse problems, solve them, and raise escalations when necessary.
- Complete and maintain all relevant documentation.
- Work with other members of the IT department to provide technical assistance when required.
- Make recommendations regarding the helpdesk structure and services provided to users.
- Perform regular stock checks and suggest equipment ordering.
- Assist in the production of a monthly help desk report.
- Produce and follow up on incident reports.
- Complete Level 1 Security Controls within the IT Support perimeter.
- Provide other progress updates to immediate management as deemed necessary.
- Provision of first and second level technical and user support to all UK staff, including UK subsidiary companies abroad, and trading floor desktop support.
- Maintain and improve the chosen helpdesk solution.
- Help design, support and deliver appropriate procedures.
- Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost savings in IT equipment.
- Ensure documentation, policies and procedures are up to date.
- Support and maintain all desktop equipment and applications.
- User assistance and guidance.
- Analyse issues, solve problems and raise escalations as necessary.
- Work with other members of the IT department in London and liaise with worldwide IT departments.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of disaster recovery implementation and documentation in collaboration with security and disaster recovery personnel.
- Provide regular updates of systems and applications (security patches).
- Analyse help desk calls and prioritise as necessary.
- Identify areas of operational risk.
- Follow branch compliance rules and group IT security policy.
- Track Monthly IT Support KPIs, Level 1 controls and support team procedure documents.
- Produce detailed incident reports and change control documentation.
- Provide regular updates to immediate team leader and head of IT support.
- Previous desktop support experience with in-depth troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working in a financial environment (advantageous but not required).
- Leading by example and self‑driven.
- Broad knowledge of the IT field (printers, mobiles, etc.).
- Good people skills and ability to deal with users at all levels.
- Able to identify potential problems before they arise and take corrective action.
- Ability to analyse trends and estimate future needs.
- Ability to make well‑thought‑out recommendations based on sound conclusions.
- Good organisational skills.
