That's why we're looking for a strategic and passionate Colleague Enablement Senior Manager to join our Colleague Engagement & Enablement team and play a key role in shaping how our people learn, grow, and succeed.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team responsible for delivering high-impact enablement initiatives that support colleague onboarding, development, engagement, and performance across Retail & Customer Operations. Working closely with senior leaders and stakeholders, you'll provide inspirational leadership, coaching and direction to your team, ensuring the successful delivery of programmes that empower colleagues to do their best work every day. You'll help design and deliver strategies that build capability, strengthen engagement, and create a high-performing culture across the business.

As part of Business Services, you'll be joining a shared service function that supports the teams responsible for protecting, supporting and serving our customers. Through your leadership, team management expertise and strategic vision, you'll drive continuous improvement, foster collaboration, and ensure your team delivers a best-in-class colleague experience that contributes directly to Nationwide's ambition of delivering a simply brilliant customer experience at every touchpoint.

For this job you'll be located at our nearest regional office or hub. There will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration and in some locations you’ll be expected to spend at least two days a week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, in the office. Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing

You will support the design and delivery of the Retail & Customer Operations people strategy, working in partnership with the central People Function, Learning & Development teams and business leaders to ensure colleague initiatives are aligned to business priorities and strategic objectives.

Working closely with Senior Leadership Teams, you will lead the delivery of complex people change initiatives from initial concept through to implementation and embedding, ensuring robust governance and risk management is in place to support safe, effective and timely delivery.

You'll build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across the organisation, influencing and challenging where appropriate to successfully embed people initiatives, drive engagement and support sustainable change.

The role will be responsible for developing and delivering programmes that enhance colleague capability, improve productivity, develop critical skills and support Nationwide's Inclusion and Diversity agenda. Using people data, insights and colleague feedback, you'll oversee the implementation of effective governance and performance measures to assess the impact of enablement activity, identify opportunities for improvement and ensure initiatives deliver meaningful outcomes.

A key part of the role will be championing change management and internal communications, acting as a trusted advisor, coach and consultant to leaders as they navigate strategic change and transformation.

You'll also leverage engagement survey results, employee feedback and organisational insights to shape future initiatives, ensuring the colleague voice remains at the heart of decision-making and helping to create an exceptional colleague experience that ultimately supports a simply brilliant customer experience.

About you

You will have:

  • Proven leadership experience at a senior level within a people related role is essential

  • Proven experience designing and delivering scalable programmes of work in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent and proven stakeholder management skills with cross-functional collaboration experience

  • Strong project management skills with a proactive, solution-oriented approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • A creative thinker with strong communication and facilitation skills

  • Strong problem-solver who can identify gaps, themes and trends by analysing data and creating strategic plans to address issues across the Function
