Help protect Nationwide by turning complex colleague, security and risk data into earlier insight on insider risk. As a Senior Data Analyst in the Insider Risk team, you’ll set the direction and deliver how we connect data from across Security, Fraud, People, Legal, Technology, Physical Security to identify emerging risk patterns and support better decisions. You’ll use tools such as SQL, Python, Power BI or equivalent technologies to transform fragmented information into clear, actionable intelligence — helping Nationwide detect, prevent and respond to workforce-related risk.

Working with specialists across Nationwide and Virgin Money, you’ll support investigations, strengthen controls, shape monitoring capability and influence how we manage insider risk across a changing organisation. If you’re analytical, curious and confident turning complex data into practical risk insight, this is a chance to make a meaningful impact in protecting one of the UK’s largest financial institutions. Responsibilities:

  • As a Senior Data Analyst within the Insider Risk function, you will take ownership of stitching together data from multiple sources including people data, access management, privileged access, technology logs, security events, investigations, fraud intelligence, physical security, case management and governance information.
  • You'll transform complex datasets into actionable intelligence, identifying emerging risks, trends and opportunities to improve our control environment.
  • You will also help shape the future of Insider Risk by contributing to strategy, governance, monitoring, automation and reporting capabilities, ensuring the organisation remains resilient to insider risks.
  • You'll work closely with stakeholders across the organisation, providing consultancy and specialist expertise to strengthen controls, inform risk decisions and improve organisational resilience.

About you:

We're looking for someone with strong technical expertise, exceptional analytical capability and a passion for understanding the relationship between people, technology and risk. For this role, you will have:

  • Integrity and honesty, this is a highly trusted and sensitive role, you will need to conduct yourself accordingly.
  • Vision, this is a new role you must have the ability to see how we can achieve our strategic objective through iterative deliveries.
  • Extensive experience using analytical and data technologies such as SQL, Python, Power BI, SAS or equivalent tooling.
  • Proven experience bringing together large and complex datasets from multiple domains to generate meaningful risk intelligence and actionable insight.
  • Experience identifying behavioural, technical and organisational risk indicators through data analysis and intelligence gathering.
  • Confidence influencing senior stakeholders and challenging where necessary to ensure Nationwide remains within risk appetite.
  • A logical, risk-based approach to problem-solving and the confidence to make recommendations in situations where information may be incomplete or ambiguous.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical findings into clear business outcomes for senior audiences.
