Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Head of IT Services - Networks you’ll be expected to be a subject matter expert in your field and be responsible for all operational activities (incident, problem, change, patching etc) performed by the BT managed services team on your platform. Key to your success will be building a collaborative partnership with the internal teams and external partners.

For your platform area you will own the improvement of service and procedures, manage access, help to plan for short to mid-term roadmaps and investment, ensuring that we remain within risk and service level tolerance and are delivering capabilities fit for the future of Nationwide.

Maintaining the security of the network and the correct functioning of the controls CNI is accountable for is another key aspect of the role. You will work together with your peers to ensure that changes to your platform are correctly designed, planned and implemented and that they align with our network patterns and guardrails.

About you

As a minimum requirement, you’ll have:

  • Broad technical knowledge across WAN, Data Centre, Campus, Network Security & Cloud technologies

  • A career background that has evolved through a technical discipline (preferably through implementation and design) in the network space

  • Confidence to make decisions and the humility to change course when required

  • Be a natural collaborator, able to bring people together behind a common goal and lead the team to achieve desired outcomes

  • You’ll be a constant learner, open to new ideas and new ways of doing things

Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:

  • Feel what customers feel - We step into our customers’ shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind

  • Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand

  • Push for better - We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development

  • Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes

You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
