We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR generalist to join our People Partnering and Change team as a People Partner. This role will contribute directly to transforming our workforce at Nationwide and is for a 12-month FTC. People Partners at Nationwide work differently. Rather than being aligned to a specific business area or senior leader, you'll work across a diverse portfolio of strategic people priorities, either independently or as part of a wider team. You'll lead and deliver high-impact people interventions and change initiatives that directly support Nationwide's strategic goals. From the outset, you'll be trusted to scope and shape activity, build strong stakeholder relationships, influence decision-making, and develop clear delivery plans that drive meaningful outcomes. Drawing on your people expertise, commercial insight and change experience, you'll help solve complex business challenges and deliver sustainable organisational change. We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best. The working hours (per week) for this role can be between 28 and 35 hours. This is a 12-month secondment opportunity.

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected. For this job you'll be located at our nearest regional office or hub. There will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration and in some locations you’ll be expected to spend at least two days a week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, in the office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works.

Nationwide is committed to the redeployment of our employees impacted by change, as such applications for redeployment candidates will be prioritised in this recruitment process.

Responsibilities

No two projects are the same. You could be helping to design and embed a new approach to performance management, supporting strategic workforce planning, shaping organisational culture and engagement, enabling new ways of working and capability development, or leading people aspects of large-scale transformation and restructuring programmes. Whatever you're working on, you'll enjoy significant variety, exposure to different areas of the business, and the opportunity to learn from a highly experienced team. Much of our work is led by Senior People Partners who oversee strategic portfolios, giving you the chance to contribute to some of Nationwide's most important people and business priorities while continually developing your own experience and expertise.

About you
