Description

We're looking for a high-performing individual to join our Application and Post Application Fraud Team within Fraud Analytics to help Nationwide prevent, detect and respond to fraud across the customer lifecycle from application vetting to mule account and first party fraud detection.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in protecting Nationwide and our members from fraud at both the point of application and throughout the customer journey across our savings, current accounts (Flex), credit card, personal loan and mortgage portfolios.

You'll work closely with stakeholders across Fraud Analytics and Fraud Operations to ensure our fraud detection capabilities remain effective against evolving threats. This role offers the opportunity to shape and optimise fraud strategies, develop new detection capabilities and support the delivery of innovative fraud solutions.

We're looking for someone with either strong fraud risk and fraud prevention experience, or strong technical and analytical skills, ideally combined with a passion for solving complex problems and protecting customers from fraud.

Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing

As a Fraud Analytics Consultant, you'll help protect Nationwide and our members by designing, developing and optimising fraud detection strategies across our application and post application fraud controls.

Within this role you will develop, monitor and enhance fraud detection rules, strategies and analytical solutions to identify fraud risks across savings, current accounts, credit cards, loans and mortgages.

This will require you to analyse fraud trends, emerging threats and control performance to identify opportunities for improvement.

You will use data and analytics to investigate issues, deliver insights and support business decision making and you will translate complex technical and analytical findings into clear recommendations for a wide range of audiences.

This is a collaborative role and you will work with stakeholders across Fraud, Risk, Operations, Product and Technology teams to implement effective fraud controls helping Nationwide stay ahead of evolving fraud threats.

About you

As a minimum requirement you'll need:

  • Strong fraud knowledge and experience within Application Fraud, Identity Fraud, Account Opening Fraud, First Party Fraud, or wider Fraud Risk Management

or

  • Strong technical and analytical skills with experience working with large datasets and developing analytical solutions

In addition, you'll need:

  • Experience working in one or more of the following areas: Fraud, Financial Crime, Economic Crime, Risk Analytics or AML

  • Experience writing code using SQL, SAS, Python or similar analytical programming languages

  • Strong data analysis skills with the ability to identify trends, insights and opportunities from complex datasets

  • A logical and structured approach to problem solving, with the confidence to make recommendations and influence outcomes

  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

  • A passion for continuous improvement and delivering the right outcomes for customers and the Society
