This is an exciting opportunity to join Nationwide's Strategy team and play a key role in supporting the Society's growing equity investment activities. The role will provide first-line Economic Crime expertise across Nationwide's portfolio of innovations, strategic and growth equity investments, helping to ensure that all investment activity is conducted in line with the Society's Economic Crime Framework, Minimum Control Standards (MCS), and regulatory obligations.
Working closely with colleagues in Strategy, Financial Risk & Controls, and other first and second-line Economic Crime teams, you will help to maintain, evolve, and implement a scalable Economic Crime approach that supports Nationwide's expanding equity investment portfolio whilst ensuring appropriate control and governance standards are maintained. We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best. The working hours (per week) for this role can be between 28 and 35 hours. At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible.

Responsibilities
- As an Economic Crime Controls Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring Economic Crime risks are effectively managed across Nationwide's equity investment activities.
- You'll develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the Society's Economic Crime Minimum Control Standards and translate these requirements into practical, effective controls throughout the investment lifecycle.
- Working closely with colleagues across Strategy, Financial Risk & Controls, and first- and second-line Economic Crime teams, you'll oversee the implementation and ongoing enhancement of Economic Crime processes from the assessment and onboarding of new investments through to ongoing monitoring and exit.
- You'll help shape and maintain a consistent control framework that supports both current and future investment activities, ensuring it remains aligned with regulatory requirements, internal standards and changing business needs.
- The role will involve conducting and coordinating Economic Crime risk assessments, maintaining oversight of risks across the investment portfolio, and ensuring robust monitoring, governance and reporting arrangements are in place.
- You'll also be responsible for reviewing and updating framework documents, procedures and risk assessment tools to keep them relevant and effective.
- As the primary point of contact for Economic Crime matters relating to equity investments, you'll build strong relationships across the business, coordinate responses to reviews and assurance activities, and represent Strategy in key forums and working groups.
- Through your expertise and collaborative approach, you'll help ensure the Society's investment activities operate within a robust and effective Economic Crime control environment.
About you
We're looking for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, working across multiple stakeholders and helping to shape robust control environments in support of strategic business activity. As a minimum, you should be:
- Able to demonstrate a solid understanding of Economic Crime risk and control frameworks within financial services.
- Experienced in interpreting policies, standards and regulatory requirements and translating them into practical business processes and controls.
- Experienced in Economic Crime, Financial Crime, Compliance or Risk Management within a regulated financial services environment.
- Able to balance commercial objectives with robust risk management and governance requirements.
- An excellent communicator with the ability to advise, influence and challenge stakeholders at all levels.
- Comfortable operating in a changing environment involving new propositions, investment structures and evolving regulatory expectations.
- Able to demonstrate knowledge in at least one of these: Investments, venture capital, private equity, corporate development, mergers and acquisitions, or strategic investment activities.
- Comfortable collaborating with senior stakeholders and presenting complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a great sense of ownership and accountability.
- Able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and high standards of delivery.
