We are seeking a proactive Business Operations Analyst to join our Internal Audit Strategy & Operations team on secondment to cover maternity leave. In this role, you will provide insight, advice, and guidance to Internal Audit’s (IA) senior leadership team on the current operational risk and control environment across the IA function. You will be responsible for producing high-quality management information (MI), ensuring data integrity, and delivering meaningful insights to support decision-making.
The role also supports a broad range of IA operational activities, including function-wide governance and executive committee reporting. You will have a unique opportunity to gain a deep understanding of Internal Audit’s impact across the Society while contributing to the effectiveness and continuous improvement of the function.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong appreciation of risk management, a passion for working with data, and a desire to further develop their experience within a progressive team. Working collaboratively across Internal Audit, you will support colleagues in the effective use of MetricStream (Nationwide’s risk management system), while helping to uphold high standards of data quality, consistency, and reporting insight. In doing so, you will play a key role in enabling informed decision-making and driving continuous improvement across the Internal Audit function.
This role sits within the Strategy & Operations (S&O) team - a small, central team that enables the audit function to operate effectively, stay aligned with organisational priorities, and continuously improve its impact. The team supports audit delivery while focusing on how Internal Audit operates and evolves, rather than conducting audits directly.
We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.
The working hours (per week) for this role can be between 28 and 35 hours.
This is a 12-month secondment opportunity.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job you'll be located at our nearest regional office or hub. There will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration and in some locations you’ll be expected to spend at least two days a week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, in the office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works.
Nationwide is committed to the redeployment of our employees impacted by change, as such applications for redeployment candidates will be prioritised in this recruitment process.
If you’re a colleague on long-term absence (for example, on parental leave) or a temporary worker, please use your personal email address to submit an application.
