We're looking for an experienced Architect to help shape and evolve the technology and data platform within the Remediation Centre of Excellence. You’ll be at the heart of designing and delivering technology solutions that enable our project and operation teams to operate efficiently, accurately and with agility.
We’re looking for someone who combines deep technical knowledge with strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills. You’ll need to be comfortable operating at both strategic and hands-on levels, influencing senior leaders while working closely with delivery teams. Experience in workflow or cloud-based solutions will be highly valuable.
We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.
This is a 12 month secondment opportunity.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job, you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part-time, you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon or Northampton office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.
Nationwide is committed to the redeployment of our employees impacted by change, as such applications for redeployment candidates will be prioritised in this recruitment process.
If you’re a colleague on long-term absence (for example, on parental leave) or a temporary worker, please use your personal email address to submit an application.
Responsibilities
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you’ll define and evolve the target architecture and technology roadmap for the Remediation CoE Tooling team, ensuring solutions align to strategic objectives and deliver measurable business value. Working closely with engineers, operational leaders and delivery teams, you’ll translate business requirements into secure, scalable and resilient technology solutions that modernise our platforms, optimise processes and support the delivery of reliable services to millions of members.
As a trusted technical leader, you’ll shape technology strategy, provide architectural guidance across the organisation, and lead proof-of-concepts to evaluate emerging technologies and validate innovative ideas. You'll collaborate with architects, engineers, testers and delivery leads to ensure solutions are aligned with enterprise standards, regulatory requirements and operational resilience objectives. Through the adoption of cloud technologies and modern engineering practices, you’ll help build scalable, future-ready platforms that support the organisation’s long-term growth and transformation ambitions.

- Proven ability to design data platform architecture, including data models, data governance, and integration with data lakes, warehouses and reporting
- Proven track record of influencing senior stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences, leading technology transformation, and driving adoption of strategic solutions across the organisation
