Our Data & AI teams bring together information from across the Society to generate deeper insights, power intelligent decision-making, and unlock new opportunities through data-driven innovation. We build secure, resilient platforms that host enterprise-scale data, create pipelines that transform raw information into trusted business assets, and ensure data is governed effectively and used responsibly.
Increasingly, we are harnessing the power of Artificial Intelligence to transform the way colleagues and customers interact with data. We use modern technologies such as Databricks, Azure, and Databricks Genie to make data more accessible through natural language conversations, enabling users to ask business questions and receive instant insights. Our teams also develop predictive models, explore machine learning solutions, and experiment with Generative AI to improve customer experiences, automate processes, and enhance decision-making across the organisation.
Working in Data & AI requires curiosity, creativity, strong analytical thinking, and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly. You will use these skills to contribute to a wide range of initiatives, from building automated data pipelines and AI-enabled solutions to creating interactive dashboards and self-service analytics tools that empower colleagues to make better decisions. This is a 12-month Fixed Term opportunity.

ResponsibilitiesWe're investing more than ever in the future pipeline of technology and AI talent, helping Nationwide remain at the forefront of innovation. As part of our Data & AI teams in Swindon, you'll gain exposure to industry-leading technologies including Databricks, Databricks Genie, Microsoft Azure, SQL, and machine learning platforms. You'll work alongside experienced engineers, data scientists, analysts, and AI specialists to solve real business challenges using data and emerging AI capabilities.
You could be involved in building and improving data pipelines that deliver trusted data across the Society, developing analytics solutions that turn data into actionable insights, and using Databricks Genie and Generative AI capabilities to make data easier to discover and understand. You will have the opportunity to explore machine learning and predictive analytics techniques, create dashboards, visualisations, and AI-powered tools for business users, and work with modern cloud technologies and enterprise-scale data platforms. Throughout the role, you’ll support the development of innovative solutions that improve colleague and customer experiences. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with technologies that are shaping the future of data, analytics, and AI within one of the UK's largest building societies.

- You will be in your 2nd or 3rd year of University studying towards a Computer Science or technology based degree.
