Business Banking is one of the fastest-growing and most energised parts of our organisation and we’re looking for a Senior Lending Manager to lead a team delivering in our Social Housing Lending Sector. You will be responsible for originating and delivering new lending opportunities for our existing customers and sourcing new customers to deliver our strategic plan. We are looking for people who have a proven track record of fantastic delivery in the Social Housing Lending Sector, who have experience of leading a successful sales team and have a recognised profile within the external Social Housing Sector.

The role is within the Social Housing Team, which is part of Business Banking. You will be responsible for all aspects of the relationship with some of the country’s largest Social Housing Associations, ensuring you proactively manage the risk and performance of a portfolio of existing social housing customers and deliver new lending in support of Nationwide’s “Mutual Good” commitments. The role will involve meeting with customers across mainland UK on a regular basis, according to business requirements. This is anticipated to be on a monthly basis. Responsibilities:

  • You will be driving delivery of the Business Banking strategy and the goals of business development and growth.
  • You will be accountable for sourcing and delivery of high-quality lending.
  • You will be accountable for the structure and presentation of large and complex social housing deals, providing deep financial analysis and risk assessments supporting strong credit decisions.
  • You will ensure your portfolio is fully compliant with all aspects of risk management and compliance.
  • You will lead your team to high performance and ensure you have a material presence within the Social Housing Sector of the UK.

About you:

  • A detailed current knowledge of the UK Social Housing Sector.
  • A strong track record of structuring and executing complex lending transactions within ideally, the Social Housing sector or the larger corporate lending market.
  • An established external network with a demonstrable record of its utilisation to originate high quality lending introductions.
  • An advanced understanding of financial accounts, business plans, and forecasts.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Experienced team leadership and performance management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate lending structuring, documentation, and security completion.
