As a HR Advisor – Partnering and Change, you’ll support a variety of People related work packages providing consultative oversight and guidance to the business. You will lead and support a number of People Change activities helping us transform our business and service to our Customers. You’ll also get involved in investigating and responding to escalated AskHR queries linked to the NBS policy suite and employee terms and conditions. You will gather and use people data producing insights to support business decision making, and manage a variety of complex HR processes.

This is a hugely varied 12 month fixed term contract role for a true HR Generalist. And you’ll be part of our high performing People Partnering and Change Delivery team, working alongside other Consultants, Partners, and Advisers. You’ll also work with our recognised Union, the NGSU, to share information and nurture our positive relationship.

This is a role within the People Partnering and Change Delivery Team, who provide expertise and consultancy to support the Society to deliver people change and initiatives, commercially, fairly, at pace and with an ethic of care.

This role sits within the People Function, which is responsible for enabling our Society blueprint through key People focused enablers, including a focus on culture and capability, and managing how we transform our organisation, doing the right thing in the right way with our ethic of care

The working hours (per week) for this role can be between 28 and 35.

What you’ll be doing

  • Delivering People Change. This could range from a small change which you manage independently with business stakeholders, or as part of our matrix model alongside our People Partners and Senior People Partners to deliver large scale transformational Change. We always manage Change with a strong ethic of care regardless of its size and complexity.
  • Support consultation activity (such as changes to notice periods, allowances and working patterns) in line with business needs so we can service our customers effectively.
  • Investigate and respond to escalated queries from Ask HR/other People Function teams or the NGSU, including queries linked to our NBS policies and employee contracts. These are likely to be complex queries that can require challenging and sensitive conversations with managers and employees as well as thorough research and investigation.
  • Drive continuous improvement within People Services and across the People Function to enhance our service proposition and operating model.
  • Producing insight – gathering data and producing insights on the findings (e.g. absence, planned leave, working patterns, I&D, spans and layers) to inform business decisions and workforce planning.
  • Working with business leaders on job evaluations and role profile changes within our regulated environment
  • Investigation of complex queries working with colleagues, line managers and Nationwide’s recognised union the NGSU

About you

As a minimum requirement you\’ll have:

  • Experience supporting and advising on People Change activity. You’ll understand employment law in this regard and the impact that good consultation has on People Change. You will have managed a number of different People Change activities independently.
  • Strong generalist HR experience of providing complex advice and guidance across a diverse range of people activity. You will have worked on a variety of different HR queries and work packages and gained experience across a range of HR disciplines.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to partner key stakeholders, build strong relationships and work collaboratively. You will have experience of working with Senior Leaders, offering them advice and challenge on their People plans.
  • The ability to logically evaluate and apply judgement to situations, overcome challenges and provide solutions. You will be able to think laterally about how to solve problems utilising your HR knowledge.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, significant experience of managing and prioritising workload to tight deadlines. You will be accustomed to juggling a number of demands and stakeholders simultaneously.
