We’re the Business Banking Learning & Engagement team — a passionate, people‑centred group focused on elevating colleague capability and creating simply brilliant customer experiences. We shape how Business Banking colleagues learn, grow, and stay connected to our purpose, designing practical, engaging learning solutions that make a real difference where it matters most: in everyday customer interactions. We work closely with frontline teams, building confidence, capability, and pride in the service they deliver, and we’re known for being collaborative, curious, and focused on real impact.

As our business continues to grow and evolve, so does the scale and complexity of the learning we need to deliver. We’re looking for a highly experienced learning professional who can operate confidently at pace and at scale, shaping capability across Business Banking, and partnering with leaders to drive meaningful performance outcomes. This is not an entry‑level role. You’ll bring depth, judgement, and credibility — trusted to lead end‑to‑end learning solutions, influence senior stakeholders, and apply your expertise to support a business navigating change and transformation.

We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best. At Nationwide, we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK-wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected. For this job you'll be located at our Glasgow hub. There will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration events, this is anticipated to be weekly in Glasgow.

If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here. You’ll be employed by Nationwide from day one, delivering real impact and benefitting from a highly competitive range of benefits. We’re a workplace where you’re rewarded, recognised and celebrated.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll take a lead role in shaping capability across Business Banking, using your experience and judgement to deliver learning that makes a genuine performance difference. Additionally, you’ll lead end‑to‑end learning solutions at scale, owning the full learning cycle from robust training needs analysis through design, delivery, and evaluation — with a clear line of sight to customer outcomes, colleague performance, and team goals. By building colleague capability in a changing environment, you’ll support transformation and ultimately help the business grow by equipping colleagues with the skills and confidence they need to do their job.

You’ll be designing and delivering high‑quality learning experiences, making effective use of learning management systems and digital tools to create engaging, accessible content for diverse audiences. It will be your responsibility to develop and maintain regulatory, role‑specific training, ensuring colleagues meet required standards and helping to safeguard our customers, colleagues, and business.

You’ll also act as a trusted learning expert, providing clear, credible guidance to leaders at all levels on learning approaches that enhance capability and improve performance whilst working closely with senior and mid‑level stakeholders and subject matter experts to influence priorities and deliver solutions that meaningfully uplift people performance and support positive Culture Survey outcomes.

About you

As a minimum requirement, you’ll have:

  • Extensive experience within a high‑performing learning function, with exposure to complex, large‑scale or regulated environments.
  • A demonstrable track record across the full learning lifecycle, consistently delivering impactful solutions from diagnosis through to evaluation.
  • Highly developed communication skills, with the ability to translate complexity into clear, compelling messages for diverse audiences.
  • Proven experience partnering with senior leaders, confidently influencing decisions and leading learning projects to successful outcomes.
  • A well‑established growth mindset, underpinned by curiosity, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • A bias for delivery, with evidence of working at pace, managing competing priorities and landing high‑quality outcomes consistently.

Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:

  • Feel what customers feel – We step into our customers’ shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind.
  • Say it straight – We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand.
  • Push for better – We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development.
  • Get it done – We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes.

You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
