The role holder will use their relationship management experience, their considerable skillset for technical and risk analysis, and an ability for business development, together with professionalism and business acumen to manage and further build a portfolio of corporate relationships within risk appetite settings. They will work with fellow Directors and Senior Directors across the team on deal origination and execution and will ensure we provide an exceptional customer experience which differentiates us from competitors and generates sustainable and attractive returns.
This role is within the Strategic Finance Team at Virgin Money Business Banking which is responsible for building and maintaining our brand in the West of Scotland Corporate Banking market. For this job you’ll be covering the West Scotland region, so you will need to be based locally as you will be expected to regularly travel to meet customers across this region. Additionally, there will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration events in one of our office sites. What you’ll be doing
The Corporate Director will possess high levels of self‑awareness and bring to life our brand and supporting principles through the demonstration of our Purpose. They will network with their external peer group to cement Virgin Money’s reputation as a leading business bank, providing appropriate and innovative funding solutions. Equally, they will be accountable for evaluating risk and compliance to identify signs of stress with the aim of minimising our exposure to bad and doubtful debts. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent team member behaviours to drive efficiencies in administration and servicing and ensure successful onboarding of new customers and will work closely with the Senior Directors in the team to deliver key transactions, including as part of their own personal development.
The Corporate Director will use their strong experience to analyse and interpret businesses and financial information and recommend lending proposals for credit decisioning. They will also ensure the appropriate loan and security documentation is prepared and in order.
About you
As a minimum requirement, you’ll have/be:
- A track record for excellence in customer service
- Strong technical, credit, and deal management skills with a demonstrable track record of delivering a range of financial solutions, from secured to unsecured, to new and existing customers
- Experience of understanding and interpreting financial statements, forecasts and cash flows, calculating key ratios, and excel credit‑modelling techniques with outstanding attention to detail
- Excellent, effective communication and influencing skills, both written and verbal, building instant credibility with stakeholders, and an ability to deliver difficult messages
- Aptitude to quickly assimilate, understand, and efficiently present information to identify issues, and implement solutions
- The ability to deliver to specific deadlines, working on your own initiative
- Capacity to cope with complex and continually challenging situations and to have a flexible approach to challenges and problems
- An understanding of policies, procedures, and FCA banking regulations, ensuring these are adhered to at all times
- Knowledge of the regional market and a professional network within the local community
- A strong team player who collaborates to add value and make a difference
