We are looking for an enthusiastic self-starter to join as a Business Analyst on the Business Banking Programme. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of activities to support the delivery of the NBS Business Banking proposition focusing on the development and implementation of an Operating Model. The role is critical to ensuring our customer-facing teams are fully prepared for the successful launch of Business Banking products. It is designed to safeguard the integrity and stability of the Branch Network and Operations teams, ensure compliance with all regulatory and risk requirements, and deliver a seamless, well-governed transition into Business-as-Usual operations. Ultimately, the purpose is to embed sustainable long-term value, strengthen operational readiness, and build confidence in the quality, consistency, and reliability of the service delivered to our customers.

We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best. This is an 18-month secondment opportunity. At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon, London or Glasgow office. If you’re based at our Glasgow office, this will apply from 1 April 2027 and ahead of that there will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration events. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works.

A typical day in this role is based on collaboration between the Business Banking Programme and all customer facing teams to identify the changes required to ensure successful launch of the new proposition. You’ll spend time understanding how processes work today, exploring what needs to change, and documenting clear requirements that everyone can agree on. This includes running workshops, asking the right questions, and joining the dots between business proposition, customer needs and technology solutions. You’ll stay involved as the Programme works through the delivery cycle, helping to prioritise, test and check that changes do what they should. Throughout the day, you’ll balance detail with the bigger picture, making sure risks, controls and customer experience are always front of mind.

As a minimum requirement, you’ll have:

  • Proven experience in the creation of an Operating Model
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to challenge and influence where required
  • Domain experience or knowledge of Retail and/or Business Banking
  • An understanding of business processes and how technology supports business process change
  • The ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams, building relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven experience of elicitation of requirements & acceptance criteria to ensure the business objectives are met
  • Proven record on the production of high-quality As Is & To Be process flows and other associated documentation

Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:

  • Feel what customers feel - We step into our customers’ shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind
  • Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand
  • Push for better - We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development
  • Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes

You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
