We are looking for a skilled Design Engineer to design and develop innovative mechanical and natural smoke ventilation systems. You will play a key role in delivering compliant, high-quality solutions that meet technical, safety and client requirements, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders.

The role involves:

  • Develop detailed designs for mechanical and natural smoke ventilation systems using CAD and relevant software.
  • Ensure designs meet functional, safety, regulatory, international fire safety standards, EN12101 and client requirements while aligning with client specifications.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and consultants to integrate ventilation systems seamlessly into building designs.
  • Review CFD analysis to optimise system performance in fire scenarios.
  • Produce technical documentation, specifications, installation guidelines, and product details.
  • Provide technical support during early conception of the design, and throughout Design Pack creation.
  • Research and implement new technologies and materials to enhance system performance.

Key experience / Qualifications:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in designing smoke ventilation or similar building services.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks).
  • Strong understanding of ventilation principles.
  • A basic knowledge of building regulations, fire safety codes, and ventilation systems standards (e.g. EN 12101, BS 9999).
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and compliance.
  • Innovative problem-solver with a proactive and adaptable approach.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience in high-rise residential, new-build developments or communal building systems.
  • Familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM) workflows.

  • Strong organisation skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and complex workloads.

We will offer the following package:

  • Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 5.00pm – flexibility required (Permanent).
  • Β£45,000 dependant on skills, experience, and qualifications.
