Key responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and secretarial support to senior officers, committees and specialist groups.
  • Prepare meeting papers, support committee administration, take minutes and maintain accurate records.
  • Support research, academic and professional activity, including grants, surveys, mentoring or development schemes, specialist databases, projects, trials and collaborations.
  • Support the planning and delivery of professional meetings and conferences, including programme administration, abstract management, speaker communications and event attendance.
  • Administer bursaries, awards and related communications, including confirmation letters, reports and website updates.
  • Create and circulate newsletters and member communications.
  • Prepare social media and website content to promote meetings, courses, awards, funding and relevant opportunities.
  • Maintain CRM, CMS and other databases accurately and professionally.
  • Liaise confidently with members, officers, speakers, partner organisations and external stakeholders.

About you

We are looking for a proactive, accurate, and confident administrator who can manage competing deadlines, handle detailed information and communicate professionally with senior stakeholders and members. Previous experience working with surgeons, clinicians, healthcare professionals, medical committees or healthcare-related organisations would be particularly relevant for this role.

Essential experience and skills

  • Robust practical administration experience gained in a professional office environment.
  • Minute taking, meeting support or committee administration experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines.
  • Confident use of Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using databases, CRM systems or CMS platforms.
